CURRENT MISSION

From May until July I will be backpacking in Europe. I need some time to figure out my life and the world I live in.

ABOUT ME

I am studying for my Masters in Political Science at University of Central Florida. I did my Undergrad at University of Florida in Poli Sci. My focus was on political philosophy, and a handful of credits short of a minor in Africa Studies.
I would like to travel to and do humanitarian aid or study. (Please Note: Matt Harding is my hero (The "Where the Hell is Matt" guy)
I would like to work at a Community College and teach.
I have an Australian Cattle Dog named Tonks, she is easily the most important thing in my life right now. She is also a very expensive bio-electric blanket.
I have a theory on life. That my existence is inherently contributing towards WorldSuck, and I am responsible for it. It is my choice to either limit my output of WorldSuck, and try to decease WorldSuck for others. Since "good" and "better" are such relative terms, I find this view works for me. For instance, I really think programs like Kiva do a good job at elevating WorldSuck, without fundamentally changing peoples lives towards or away from 'modernity". It is strange, and boarders on Nihilism, but its how I feel.
And in many ways, like Nihilism, is very much a freeing feeling. It is I and only I who is responsible for what I contribute towards the world. See doesn't that sound nice?!
On the subject of love, I feel that it does exist. But not as an emotion, but as a state of mind. And that true love does not exist. There are 6.5 billion people on the planet, and I simply cannot accept those odds. I reject that notion, and instead substitute it with the idea that we are simply trying to find someone who we won't want to kill in 40 years. And that we simply do the best we can with what we have. Fate will not determine who my soul mate is, but rather it is I.
See... it is all very freeing. It just puts a lot of weight on me.

Your very birth increased WorldSuck. It is your job to correct that.

I am an open person. There are no subjects that are taboo. If I could have I would have majored in sex, religion AND politics, but they made me pick on, so I went with politics.

I speak with confidence and normally with the aim to entertain, explain or give someone else the chance to do the same.

I keep good company with thoughtful, kind people.

I am a nerd and a geek. I am addicted to learning, and not just in school. I listen to books on tape, and when those are not playing I will most surely have NPR on. My favorite show being "This American Life".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Even while I am backpacking Europe, two couches are available in my apartment through my landlord Robert Eric Draper. Couches will be available also when I get back mid July.

I am currently backpacking Europe for two months with my friend Michael Crumpton, the next two weeks of which we are also with Jeremy Mayeres.. Michael has an account but is having difficulty accessing it in Europe and did not prepare it well. This should be fixed within a day or two. Feel free to look us up and message us on facebook, this is the easiest way other than my account to contact us. Due to more poor planning/lack thereof, Robert also does not yet have an account, hopefully he will set one up soon.

Hopefully you see from all this that while we may not be the most prepared people in the world, we are quite flexible.

None, other than for east coast swing dancing down in Miami. (I had a blast).
