Overview
About Me
38 Year Old Graphic Designer, living in Alexandria, Louisiana. I work at an art institution Downtown. Married for almost 20 years to Kat. We have three children (one about to move off into the world).
I love motorcycles, heavy metal, folk music, studying, making things, philosophy, and exploring the world of thought and experience. I've been a Graphic Designer for about 15 years, from Casinos, to Newspapers, to Non-Profits. I've also done some off the wall things for work, like fight wildfires and build bicycles. I play a little banjo and guitar.
I love studying early cultures, exploring city and woods alike, alternative ways, spirituality, religious experience, and people who live authentically.
My family is multi-ethnic, and our menu is the same. From Louisiana Creole, to Vietnamese traditional.
I love to give tours, and talk about our state and local history and culture. If you are traveling for that kind of experience, I can try to work in a guided walking tour of our little downtown area.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We had friends before who hosted couch surfers, and always liked the idea. We don't travel as much as we used to, so we like to bring travelers to us. We love to tell stories, hear stories, and entertain and feed people too. We have a fold out bed, a couch, some air mattresses, or can lay down a pallet. Just depends on what you want. If you tent travel, we can put you in the fenced in backyard and give you a fire too. We've hosted people in the past, through collectivist networks, but never officially like this. Seems fun.
We're safe folks who are pretty accepting. We are an open-minded household that holds hospitality as a major tenant of our beliefs. If you're interested in meeting more than us, we can have some of our friends over. Lots of creative and interesting folks in our circle.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music from Outlaw Country, Metal, Punk, Folk, you name it, and I am probably into it somehow. Movies are too hard to even get into, but not really into consumer quality movies at all.
I love old horror. Lots of documentaries. Art films. Books...The Stranger, On The Road, Lovecraft stories, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Conan short stories, anthropology/religious texts, philosophy.
We have tons of books...you're welcome to browse through them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got to talk about Louisiana Voodoo on a Canadian travel channel show once. That was pretty cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to give tours, and talk about our state and local history and culture. If you are traveling for that kind of experience, I can try to work in a guided walking tour of our little downtown area.
I am learning French and Spanish (slowly). I have friends who are fluent in Louisiana French, and can maybe get them to visit to talk to French guests for the experience. Kat is fluent in English and Vietnamese.
Likewise, I love to hear about where people are from, their cultures, foods, etc.
