To share our home with people who are travelling through this beautiful country of ours, New Zealand!

ABOUT ME

We are a married couple, Jason and Laila, from what is currently known as the Shaky City, Christchurch! We live in a nice little 3 bedroom home about 5 mins drive from the centre of the city, close and handy to everything, including the beach and estuary, and good walking tracks nearby. Our house has been unaffected by the recent earthquakes but our city will take a while to recover.
We both work, so are out from 8.30am to 5.30pm, and we would prefer if people are out and about during the day while we are out. We are happy to spend time with you in the evening though :)
Christchurch is a good launching pad to go to all the great places the South Island has to offer. We have travelled to most places in the South Island and have a good knowledge of where to go and what to do, and are happy to share this with you!

We believe in God and that Jesus Christ is his son, and that he loves us and cares about us! So we endeavour to trust him and let him lead us...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We would like to share our home and offer our friendship to anyone who stays with us, couples or individuals.
We are both non-smokers and light drinkers - we do sometimes enjoy a glass of wine with dinner!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have just come back from a 4 month trip through Europe and the USA, where we were lucky enough to share some great couchsurfing experiences in France, Italy and Switzerland. We have also hosted several people since we became members in June 2011 :)

We like a wide range of music, including '80's stuff, Bob Marley, U2, Salmonella Dub, Fat Freddys Drop and Kora (NZ music), our church bands.
The Kings Speech, Avatar, Little Miss Sunshine, The Kids are Alright, Shawshank Redemption, The Fighter, French romantic comedies are a favourite.

Jason: taken a helicopter ride over Mt Cook and to the top of Franz Josef glacier last year.
Laila: leaving home and going to art-school in Honduras at the age of 17, without knowing a word of Spanish!

My husband has amazing practical DIY skills - everything he turns his hand to, he manages to do with quality and excellence, even if he's never done it before. I (Laila) love to paint, cook, meet new people and learn new languages (the next one on the list is Maori...).
