Overview
About Me
My name is Garrett Cash (yes, I am related to Johnny). I live in Atlanta, GA. I also lived in Orlando, FL for ten years. I'm currently studying at Georgia State University, with my major being film.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I love the idea of staying with locals in places I've never been. Hotels are a very cloistered experience that will always have you feeling outside of the community you're stepping into. When I stay with a local I feel like I'm really experiencing that place's way of life. It's a much more vibrant experience.
Interests
My interests are pretty varied, but mainly I'm interested in Christianity, as a follower of Christ. I do a lot of work in theology and apologetics. I'm also a flat-out cinephile, and I could talk film endlessly. I'm a voracious reader, and my main reading interests are classics. I love philosophy. I'm also a medievalist, and anglophile. I love to study history and art. I've been frequently described as a walking musical encyclopedia as well. I play several instruments: guitar, mandolin, synth, bass, and some piano (when I practice). I'm especially a big fan of 60's rock, but I love a crazy range of genres all the way from ancient Greek lyre to alternative. I'm a libertarian politically. I'm also a vegan, which means I don't purchase or consume any animal products. But I promise I'm not militantly crazy! Haha!

Music, Movies, and Books
My band of all time is by far The Beatles. I am one of those obsessed Beatle guys. I am also a huge fan (read obsessed) of The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, U2, The Byrds, New Order, Frank Sinatra, The Zombies, Tom Petty, The Monkees, etc. I love rock, country, alternative, jazz, folk, and all of their various subgenres!
My favorite movies are Citizen Kane, It's a Wonderful Life, The Godfather Part I and II, A Hard Day's Night, No Country For Old Men, Touch of Evil, A Night at the Opera, Love and Mercy, Vertigo, The Searchers, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, The Wicker Man, Brazil, Raising Arizona, Intolerance etc.
My favorite books are The Bible, Les Miserables, To Kill a Mockingbird , The Complete Short Stories - Flannery O'Connor, The Sound and the Fury, Mere Christianity, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Lord of the Rings, Reasonable Faith, The Iliad, The Canterbury Tales, Sense and Sensibility, Great Expectations, Pensees - Pascal, Apology - Plato, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I did recently was that I got to see Monument Valley, which is the place where John Ford filmed his masterpiece westerns that starred John Wayne like The Searchers and Stagecoach. I stayed at the same lodge where Ford and his filming crew did, and I got to really explore a lot of places familiar to me through his works. It was a mind blower!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach philosophy, theology, music, art appreciation, some French, and how to cook vegan!
I'd like to learn too many things to list, basically if you know something interesting that I don't, then great!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm not a freeloader type of person, and when I stay with someone I will do what I can to be the best guest possible. I always clean up after myself, I will pick up the tab for food or help cook, I will help you do house chores, I'm not loud at all, etc. Besides help with all these things, I always share my joyful sensibility with people and my unique personality!
