About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live in a very ecologically sustainable way, while maintaining my enjoyment of the everyday moments and relationships with people. Also, to make a living from telling stories through my art, building spaces for creative communities to thrive, and to share my knowledge with others.
ABOUT ME
I love my hometown, Guelph, and hope to live in a similar place that has that small town feel when I eventually settle. At the same time, I want to push myself to develop a taste for travelling and learning about other cultures.
Art has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember and so I've decided to pursue it as my passion career. So for now, I will do and learn whatever I should to make this happen. While on this path, I hope to also have opportunities to share my knowledge with others. Regardless of where it takes me, I always want to ensure that I have time to live my life, be in nature, read, and learn from others.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that we're in a very transitional time in the world. It feels to me that there is a shift in the way the newer generations are interpreting finding their life goals and passions. I'm very inspired by this movement towards a better world.
So my current philosophy is to create space for others to step into the reality that is best suited to their unique skills, as opposed to trying to fit a mold that doesn't fit anymore.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For the next three or four months I'll be travelling in Africa! Starting in Tanzania, so will be on this site to try and meet some of the local people to really get a feel for the place. I hope that I also meet some potential long term friends.
Interests
I'm a big fan of learning, being out in nature (whether its walks, sports, hiking, mountain biking, camping, canoeing, etc.), I love cooking and exploring new ethnic cuisines, exercising and eating healthy, being with friends and family (though I equally appreciate time to myself), and building my library of many different topics of books from quantum physics to Joseph Campbell to the Hobbit.
In terms of entertainment, I love watching well made movies, playing video games, graphic novels, TV shows such as breaking bad, and have a small addiction to collecting art books.

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many to list in each category!
Books - Ender's Game, Joseph Campbell, Walt Whitman, The Name of the Wind, Carl Sagan, Taoism, Buddhism, Hindu ancient texts, technical drawing and painting books, cinematography books, books on storytelling, Ishmael, Shaun Tan illustrated books, health and nutrition books, philosophy, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, entrepreneur books, and many more subjects I'm forgetting!
Movies - Cinderella Man, Alien(s), Avatar, almost all Pixar, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Old School, Road to Perdition, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a lot of David Fincher (fight club, social network, etc), Jurassic Park, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, The Shining, and Love Actually unregrettably!
Although this category isn't listed, I love video games but more the design and art of them. I find the field's growth interesting and hope we tap into game design for a variety of societal issues in the future.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Stood up to speak about my passion for animation in from of 150 or so people for a 5-minute timed slideshow I prepared! Horrifying and empowering!
