About Me

Music, Art, Poetry, Philosophy, Cannabis, Food, Education, Writing, Experimentation, Friends, Psychedelics, Film... These are the things (in no particular order) that I am about and that are about me.

I am a creator. I have a constant need to create. Right now, photography and music are my main outlets for my creative urges.

Well, I don't know what to say anymore so instead I'm just going to give you links to me on the internet.

Twitter: https://twitter.com/bakudanashita
Bandcamp: https://eclector.bandcamp.com/
Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/eclector
Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/friday_and_friends/

P.S The Bandcamp and Soundcloud links are for eclector, my experimental, electronic, noise, and chiptune music project. It's all a bit all over the place and hard to comprehend but some of it is worth a listen.
My new project (unnamed for now) is going to be mainly acoustic guitar and vocals, but as of right now I'm not ready to share it to the internet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some time ago I realised that by staying in Ireland I either have to get a shitty job that I'd probably be stuck in for years (been there, done that), or go to college for a few years.
Eventually I came to the conclusion that I had a third option, leave Ireland. So, after many months of consideration I decided that I'm just going to hitchhike around Europe with a few musical instruments to busk with.
The way I see it is that I'm going to get a better education from travelling than any college could ever give me, and I don't mind working a few shitty jobs as long as it's just to help pay for the journey onward.

Because of the nature of my journey, and my lack of money, I'm mostly going to be relying on the kindness of strangers. And this is why I'm on Couchsurfing, because it's a collection of kind strangers who may be able to help me along on my journey. Also, as W.B. Yeats said "There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met." And I would like to meet some new friends.

Interests

My interests are vast and varied and I've already mentioned some of them in the About Me section, but if I was to try and summarise I'd say that I am interested in life and how we live it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I hate when websites ask me to list my favorite things because for me that list is infinite, but I'll try just give you a quick taste of what I like.

Music: (Artists I Enjoy)
Nirvana, Death Grips, Benjamin Clementine, Willis Earl Beal, Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher, Kurt Vile, Nick Drake, John Frusciante, Teen Suicide, Igorrr, Saltillo, Dj Shadow, Skip James, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Deerhoof, Lightning Bolt, Blackpus, Zach Hill, Velvet Underground, Jefferson Airplane, Merzbow, Mississippi John Hurt, Amanda Palmer, Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Daniel Johnston, Courtney Barnett, Bjork, Tool, Burzum, Mayhem, Devendra Banhart, Giraffes? Giraffes!, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Katzenjammer, Nils Frahm, Pantera... I think I should stop here, but the list goes on forever.

Movies: Ok, to cut down on text I'm just going to say that I see a big difference between Movies and Films. Movies are almost always a commercial product whereas Films are generally an artistic product. I like a few Movies but I love many Films.

Anyway, onto a less polarising topic.

Books: (Authors and Poets I've read and am reading)
Philip K. Dick, Stephen King, William Burroughs, Hunter Thompson, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, T.S. Eliot, Anton Chekhov, Sylvia Plath, Aldous Huxley, John Keats, William Shakespeare, George Orwell, Charles Bukowski, William Blake... There's many more to add but this will do for now.

I also enjoy some more esoteric books like, the Tao Te Ching, the Upanishads, the Tibetan Book of The Dead, etc... Oh, and I like reading the likes of Freud, Jung, Nietzsche, Descartes, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I haven't done it yet but in a few months (probably around February) I'm going to leave behind my old life, my family, my friends, and all the comforts that I take for granted, to travel around Europe with no money and no where to go.
For me this is not just going to be a physical journey, it will also be a spiritual journey, a journey of self discovery, a vision quest, or whatever you want to call it. I want to find my Self and I'd also like to find my Voice.

But, anyway, if I manage to do any of that it will definitely be one amazing thing I've done.

Teach, Learn, Share

Peace, love, empathy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can only share whatever I happen to have with me. But for the most part I'll be able to share some stories, I'll play guitar and sing (although that might not be such a good idea), but I think most importantly, I can share knowledge, and hope they will do the same for me. But I guess that all comes under the Teach, Learn, Share section, I don't know...

I can share my cooking and cleaning skills and stuff like that I guess, haha.

Countries I’ve Visited

England, Netherlands, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ireland
