Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have had a few guests now and its always a good experience. Always nice to talk with someone about world travels and learn about new places. Have not yet couchsurfed at someone else's but notice I say "yet."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every person I've hosted as been absolutely delightful. Fascinating conversations about travel, art, music and food. Love to give surfers ideas of where to go in Portland.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like almost any type of movie except horror. Really like Bollywood movies especially if they're shot in locales I've been to. Listen to current rock (not too heavy usually) and always trying to find new bands. Read regularly, especially when traveling and I always find an English bookstore somewhere.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Safaris in South Africa, Botswana and Tanzania. Pyramids in Egypt. Taj Mahal in India. Sailing in Croatia. Rode a bike with a friend from Bavaria to Vienna along the Danube. I know this is not ONE thing but its so hard to nail it down to just one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I volunteer with an organization that provides services for homeless youth. I taught school many years ago and missed the contact with youth. The focus is to help them find a job and, if necessary, get a GED. I also have coached many cycling teams preparing them to ride a century (100 miles) or more and raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Probably have ridden over 20,000 miles in the last 8 years.
