ABOUT ME

I am 54, I live alone, close to the centre of our little town in my own ground floor unit. I have a spare room with a double bed. I have four grown up children who occasionally come home and occupy those beds, but mostly the bed is vacant and are available for strangers, travellers and friends, known and unknown.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting people and hearing their travel tales. Washing machine is available to freshen up clothes. I'm happy to leave people alone or to provide company - you tell me what you hope for while you stay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to this but have hosted Matthias from Germany for 3 nights; he was good company, easy to accommodate and a great cook!

Writing, reading, art house films, music (I play guitar, mandolin), philosophy (I particularly like Pascal, Kierkegaard, Chesterton), religion, philosophy, self-sufficiency and gardening.

The birth of children is always a miracle! Praying for something and having it come to pass is another great experience.

I like sharing what Jacques Maritain called the "habits of art" - the disciplines necessary for creativity. I've published essays on Charles Bukowski, Flannery O'Connor, Daniel Defoe and Soren Kierkegaard, so I can share somewhat about them and their philosophies.
I am a basic cook - so I need to learn more simple recipes.
If you have an instrument (you have a voice, don't you?) we can share music in my kitchen - it has good acoustics and the little bell of the microwave adds an accent to the songs.
