About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to learn Nebraskan ways...

ABOUT ME

I observe, I write, then realise my observations were faulty and my writing flawed... then write some more. Repeat.

PHILOSOPHY

The proof of others, not the belief of others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

newbie!

Interests

cinema, knowledge systems & psychology - why we think and believe what we do, general science. And too much sport, though I'm trying to cut back. Medical patches sadly not available to give an arbitrary sense of affiliation.

Music, Movies, and Books

I write films, so cinema plays a big part in my life. Kubrick, Jeunet, Resnais, Bergman, the Coens, Wong Kar Wei, Haneke, PT Anderson. Most things by auteurs. Wow, that sounds pretentious! I prefer a well written scene about a cardboard box to a something exploding. A well written scene about an exploding cardboard box? Bonus.

Love music - from Dylan, CSNY, Leonard Cohen to Bright Eyes, Muse, Rilo Kiley, Kings of Leon, Killers. Glastonbury festival addict. Great songwriters can summarise your life in two lines. And if you youtube 'Leeds United' by Amanda Palmer, I'm the briefly seen guy in the beanie hat.

If I had to recommend only two books - except, you know, all the stuff about gravity or DNA - then Immortality by Milan Kundera and Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

done? Not sure. Seen? Quilotoa Laguna in Ecuador - the most amazing volcano crater lake. Oh, and the night sky. Given that it contains most of the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmmm. Show me a film and I can break it down pretty good for ya. And an awesome bolognaise recipe. You'll need Worcester sauce, chillie seeds, bbq flavouring....

Countries I’ve Visited
