About Me

I am a mocktail of juxtaposing extremes. I'm sitting on the cusp of adulthood and maturity, pondering what the uncertain future beholds but in the meantime making the most of every moment life has to offer.

Covid-19 Travel Advisory
Feb 2021 - I can only accept 2 travellers due to local restrictions implemented by my apartment complex. Travellers from outside Guangdong will need to get a nucleic acid test within the last 72 hours of entry. Green code is MANDATORY for all non-residents entering my apartment block.
p.s.: I have an extremely busy schedule, pursuing a full time Master's/Teaching Qualification and a full time job. I will barely have the time to catch up if you surf my place but I hope to make it for a quick dinner or stroll around the neighbourhood.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To go where the incongruously asinine mind beckons. And to share the awesomeness! (:
Also because curiosity fuels me. I am perpetually curious to explore places, meet people, exchange ideas and share cultural values!

If you're here from my other, now-defunct profile, thanks for taking the effort to find me - I take it that I've been a fab host/friend/surfer (: If you're new here, well, this profile would seem relatively young.. Up until July 2017, I was active from another profile that was created because CS was unable to verify my credentials on this one, which has now been deleted because of a really complicated accessibility issue from where I currently reside - China.. Perhaps, I can regale you with it when you surf my place or host me?

Interests

My interests are rather spontaneous than cultivated although I do try to dabble in some things with a sustained passion: reading, consistently pursuing a desire to learn near-extinct languages (without almost never having the opportunity to tick off any of those languages in the lengthy list that I have compiled), curating my mother's extensive currency collection, trying to master a new musical instrument, crusading for animal welfare (chill out, I won't spew any unsolicited opinion!) and seeking and giving (hopefully valuable) insights on being a stellar wayfarer!
Also I'll devour anything that screams Soviet history!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Anything that is not romance-fiction. I have way too many favourites to list than this page provides space for. Host me or join me at my place and I would love to discuss books over a mug of mid-night lemon tea.

Movies: I'm not inclined to mainstream cinema. I spend most of my time binge watching those zillion art films and parallel cinema from across the globe as well as Indian classics in all the languages I can and cannot understand (No, NOT the typical commercial Bollywood flicks!)

Music: Depending on my mood (and my mood swings), I plug into tunes spanning contrasting wavelengths.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mustered the courage to taste cucumber, lychee, honey lemon tea and seaweed flavoured Lays.. Welcome to China, hahah!
And ooh, train elephants (at an elephant rescue/rehabilitation sanctuary). Definitely way more awesome than my current academic endeavour!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Cook Indian foood!!, how to fail miserably at speedcubing, advanced topology and econometrics (went to university to learn a thing or two about these), enthrall you about how life is in remote, rural China, Nepal & India..
I've seen grass grow. I saw a bird build her nest, lay her eggs , take care of her brood and teach them to fly. I've seen and gleaned perseverance, and shall be glad to muse over things such as these if you are willing to lend an ear.
Learn: I am perpetually curious to learn about new things, places and people. I am sure I'll find some common ground to catch up on with anyone I meet.
Share: A cup (or as many as you'd like) of Indian Chai. Quirky conversations. Common literary and travel interests. My library of precious books and vintage knick-knacks! And anything that's in the room except for personals.

Mi casa es su casa (: Come down to India to unravel a whole world out here! I would be delighted to take you around to explore the non-touristy legacies of my hometown.

I have a pretty tight schedule in China so in the event you surf at my place, I will most probably not have the time to bring you about or tag along in exploring the city, but anything else other than that please feel free to ask (: Weekdays are more relaxed for me than weekends.

I would love to meet you, regardless of where you are from or what you identify yourself as (although I do look for legit CS interests and meaningful interaction; Please don't send a request if you need just an accommodation to spend the night at). I am usually very flexible and accommodating but I'd really appreciate if you read the the details under the "My Home" section before sending a request to stay at my place. Sketchy, incomplete profiles and brief/blunt requests are rejected straightaway!

P.S.: I often have furry, non-human creatures crashing at my place while on their way to animal rescue shelters.
Also, i DON'T live in Hong Kong; I live in Shenzhen, which is across the border in mainland China, although I do participate in HK meet-ups . CS' search option is pretty weird; for some strange reason it clubs HK and SZ together because of their geographical proximity and I often get requests from travellers looking for a host in HK. You will need a Chinese visa to visit SZ, which is about 40 mins away from HK.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bhutan, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Israel, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand
