About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To kick ass and chew bubblegum.
ABOUT ME
Glen and I are married and come as a package deal, and we are a great deal of Geek. We're into lively conversation, good debates, art, architecture, Dungeons & Dragons, computer games, tramping, and pretty much anything else that involves distractions and good times. We nurse a lingering addiction to higher education and like sneaking into university lectures when we have the time. We're karate and martial arts enthusiasts, and we like working out and staying active. Both of us are handy in the kitchen, and I make a mean pie.
PHILOSOPHY
Education is a splendid substitute for reality.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We like to travel whenever possible, and would like to encourage safe travel by having people come stay with us. We're hoping to meet some fun CSers during our upcoming trip to Germany, Amsterdam, and Prague.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've mooched off of fellow CSers in the past, but have not hosted anyone yet. We like to give back to our hosts by cooking for them, and we're not half bad in the kitchen!
Interests
Computer games, art, architecture, Karate, bellydance, martial arts, pen-and-paper RPG, nature, hiking, traveling, all that good stuff. We love a good, hearty debate.

Music, Movies, and Books
Lord of the Rings (books and films); Terry Pratchett; Harry Potter; Robot Chicken; the first three Star Wars; Tragically Hip; Loreena McKennitt; hyperactive fiddle music; traditional celtic; good, meaty non-fiction; B-movies; Mystery Science Theatre 3000; Boondocks; Game of Thrones; Masters of Rome
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Depends on what you define as amazing. I've danced in revealing cabaret belly dance outfits in front of perfect strangers - some people find that amazing. Personally, I think that managing to produce 15 jars of home made jam in a mere 5 hours was pretty amazing, too. Glen's lung spontaneously collapsed during German class - that was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
School is not about learning how to do it or what to know, but rather about how to think and how to trick other people into thinking that you are right. Travel and meaningful social engagement is the best antivenom vs. those who understand what school is REALLY about.
We can share philosophies about martial arts and fitness and how they apply to work and life. We can talk about business and ethics and how personal morals should fit into working life. We can wax poetic about the wonders and absurdities of academia. We can talk about meathead action films and babble excitedly about the gigantic explosions they feature.
