Hi! We are two dutchies (Derk and Geke) who are travelling for a whole year in Central and South America. We would like to get to know te culture around here and see nice spots that no one knows about. So far, we love Central America a lot!! The culture is really different then ours en learns us whats important in life.

We used to work both. Derk has always been a farmer and was also a maintenance engineer. He decided to quit the farm of his family in the end of 2021. A hard Decision, but it made place for other things in life. Geke has been a nurse since 2017. Since 2022 she is a nurse practitioner in the psychiatry. In the first place, she wanted to go back to here work after the plan of a year of traveling. A few weeks a go she decided to quit her job aswell. We both try to figure out whats import in life and for this moment traveling and everything what comes with traveling, makes us very happy.

We are 28 and 26 years old. We started our trip on the 14th of January. We never did couchsurfing before but we really want to try it. We love the culture and like to get to know it better. And we think this is a good kind of way.

We bring a lot of good conversations, we like to practice our Spanish. We did a Spanish course in Xela (Guatemala) and we still need to work on it a lot. We are sportive and LOVE nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because we like to get to know the local people and learn some Spanish.

We are both very sportive and like to walk a lot. We are interested in other cultures and are always in for something new.
