About Me

I am a professor of Ethnic Studies and Social Worker by trade.

I love learning about history and other cultures. Traveling fascinates me. I have always been infatuated with the world map and learning about other cultures and religions around the globe. I am motivated about traveling because it allows you to grow mentally and physically as a human being.. For the past couple of years I have taken the opportunity to travel alone and embark on new adventures. I have been Thailand, Oaxaca, Mexico and Jamaica. I do this because it gives me a way to understand history and culture of people with diverse backgrounds in order to connect with them on a deeper level.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled to Thailand. I was thrilled that after 2 years of saving my money I was able to go. I explored the vibrant city of Bangkok and the Mountains of Chaing Mai. I stayed in hostels with other solo travelers. I have a connection with Thailand that I haven’t had with any other country because of the food and how sweet and generous the people were. In Chaing Mai, Mama Pang and her family took me in shared her home and her friends, and even came to the airport when I was leaving. Even though we spoke different languages we were able to communicate. It was the first time I I was able to build a connection with someone from a different culture who spoke a different language. In Chaing Mai the connection with her was a pivotal point in my life. I knew I wanted to have these type of experiences for the rest of my life. It wasn’t the temples and the foods that made my trip unforgettable it was the connections I made.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very passionate about giving back to the community and supporting others in achieving their highest potential. Eventually, my goal is to help women in underdeveloped countries who do not have the resources and the education that women have in America.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As an African American woman it is also important for me to travel outside of the U.S because I was not encouraged to travel outside the U.S. I want to push through the boundaries and become a citizen of the world, someone dedicated to understanding a broad diversity of experiences.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Thailand
