I'm a 20 year old college student from the states. I´m originally from the Midwest (that flat area by the great lakes). I study psychology and Spanish and am completely in love with both.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Surfing:
I'm couchsurfing to meet new people and get a taste of the world in a different way. I want to make this experience an adventure, and make friends in the process. I think the best way to experience a culture is to actually experience it. Too many people travel with the idea of just seeing. I want that unexplainable human experience we all strive for.

Interests

I love to try new foods- I think you should try everything (not just food) twice because the first time may have just been a bad experience. The world is controlled by variables. Every chance I get I like to explore new places, even if it's my own back yard. The world is so vast and I know I might never see all of it, but I wanna get as much as I can out of it. My happy place is in a kitchen, cooking. I can't guarantee everything I make will be good, but it'll be made with love and probably a little hot sauce. I play music (poorly), write, and read when I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite band is Ramshackle Glory. Beyond that I'm always looking for new sounds and styles. I´m getting back into NeverShoutNever lately and I don´t regret it one bit. I love folk punk, but also post hardcore, sounds like La Dispute and Touche Amore. I´ll sometimes be caught listening to Beyoncé. It´s a guilty pleasure that I´m not all that guilty about. I love books and graphic novels by Neil Gaiman, and Ray Bradbury. I like all kinds of movies, but I'm a sucker for historical dramas (Tombstone, for example) and documentaries. I can spend hours watching Vice.

I want to teach people about myself, my culture, where I come from. I want to learn about others- their culture, history, interests, languages, and personalities. I believe in this mutual learning there is an unparalleled sharing of the human experience that can't be matched.
