Sobre mí

Love meeting people. I live on a Marae and wish to share and exchange lived experiences. I love nature and permaculture. I'm pretty laid back and relaxed.

Coming home to the Marae is also about looking after visitors so I have decided to make the Marae available and share these experiences learning from one another. We have a big section that extends to the river. The river is very special to my people. The Marae is only 3km from city central.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Really to take a risk and meet people on their journeys and merely to be a friendly stop and take refuge and time out for weary travellers.

I have entered a stage of life that allows me the freedom to meet people and being based at my Marae with planning community get togethers and hosting people is one way of giving back. I am happy to do this.

Música, películas y libros

Old school r&b and, reggae. Classic rock. I was a marvel comic book kid as a child so my mind becomes a child again seeing all the marvel remakes and current technology used.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I enjoyed my time in Brazil in a completely different environment. I spent some time with 1st Nations people of Australia on Minjerribah ...totally loved it despite the history of colonisation. Spent time in Canada, Edmonton with First Nations people for a month and participated in ceremonies, totally loved looking forward to hosting them.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I love my people of the Whanganui river. I enjoy learning and continue studying. I have completed my masters on the importance of the Whanganui river to our people and how we are interconnected with the river. It shapes our philosophy and worldview as our environment informs us.

I worked as a Lecturer in Bachelor of Social Work degree at Te Wananga o Aotearoa. But I have since moved from this and am self employed based at Marae.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

The history of Whanganui from a tribal perspective. When you stay with me I will place you in the Marae, sleeping on mattresses Marae styles. Always have a hot jug with either coffee or tea ready to brew.
