About Me
For the past ten years I’ve been living outside of the United States, mostly in Spain, and one of the questions I get asked the most is: “How do you make that work?” or “How do you afford to live abroad?”
A lot of people assume living or traveling internationally is incredibly expensive, but in my experience it can actually be simpler than the lifestyle many people build for themselves back home. When you step outside the usual path — long leases, constant consumption, chasing bigger and bigger salaries — you start to realize there are other ways to structure life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I work online teaching English and spend a lot of time focusing on creative projects and personal interests. Living in Europe has given me the freedom to slow down a bit and pay attention to things I care about: learning languages, playing music, drawing, basketball, and exploring different places and cultures. I’ve always found it fascinating how much our identities are shaped by where we grow up and the environments we move through.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy people who have a sense of humor about life. Comedy, especially when it has a little edge or a clever undertone, is something I appreciate a lot. I’m also someone who likes thoughtful conversations about culture, history, and how people see the world.
I’m originally from California but spent a big part of my childhood in Kansas, and now I’ve been in Spain for quite a while. That mix of places and cultures has shaped how I see things. These days I’m mostly focused on continuing to learn, staying curious, and building a life that leaves room for creativity, good conversations, and meaningful experiences.
