ABOUT ME

I'm very new to couch surfing, but love the idea of joining this worldwide community!

My home is in London, but I also lived in Paris for six years, where I was a singer (mostly opera) and I taught at a university. I started out in life working in the wine trade, when I lived and worked in Brittany in north-west France. I've been about quite a bit :-)

Since I've been in London I've continued working in Paris, and I now teach and research in history/musicology at Bristol University, in the west of England. As a result, I spend a lot of my time travelling...

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short: live and let live. I guess I don't have a concrete philosophy, other than respect for one's fellow humans.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm looking for a bed for a few nights here and there while I'm travelling. As much as anything else, I'm looking forward to meeting some locals. As I'm travelling alone, it's much nicer to have people to meet and chat to at the day's end, rather than the solitude of a hotel room.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only one so far when I stayed with a fantastic couple of guys in Melbourne last September (2010).

Music, playing the piano (I'm really bad, but I still enjoy it); sports - I row, and I swim nearly every day; reading when I have the time; travelling: QED;
