About Me

A native of the Philippines, staying in Saigon, Vietnam. Currently, I am working in the academe (that is what I also do in the Philippines). I am staying in Vietnam for 4 years now and still counting... Establishing a career off-shore is one of the major decisions that I've done in my life. They say that "opportunity knocks only once" so i gave it a try. Moving here in Vietnam is a breathe of fresh air. I want to try something new once in my life so I did. Living in a totally different environment is an everyday struggle . It is thrilling and fun; survival is the key.

Since I am single, I get the chance to explore and see the world in front of me. All the beautiful things that it can offer.

In my mid-life, I love to live it to the fullest. Well, it's better late than never... I'm into meeting new people coming from different walks of life. Reconnect with old friends; sharing experiences, exchanging ideas. I'm a "people-person" and easy to be with. My vocation as a teacher helped me a lot to understand that every individual has its own distinct character; you will learn how to deal and live with it. Respect differences, embracing diversity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about this couch surfing before from my friend. At first, I wasn't interested. I just ignored it. Then I met a traveler (couch surfer as well) from my country and couch surfing was re-introduced to me. We had a chat and his stories were so engaging. Aside from curiosity, I believe that this is an eye-opener for me as traveler or more of as an explorer. The experience of how people live their lives in a day. I would love to feel the hospitality and in return I will do the same if I have the chance. "Don't be a tourist, just do what like locals do".

To widen my network. I believe that we are inter-connected with each other. We live under one roof.

I always live in the saying by Confucius: "Do unto others, as what others do unto you"

Dancing is my passion. I used to be part of a folkloric group during my university days. We showcase Philippine Folk Dances. I am so in loved with performing and theatrical arts. When I started traveling, I always look forward to see the culture and tradition of the place. A slice of life can be interpreted in the form of dance. The colors, form, movements and practices are the evident representation of ones culture. Literature has something to do with understanding societies and reasons why things exist in a specific place and time.
