ABOUT ME

Currently living in Kenya and working in a refugee camp. Hence the no couch thing right now. I love it and love working with people and issues that usually elicit a response like "the world needs people like you." (which I hate.) The world doesn't need people like me. I do what I love so I'm lucky.
I'm sarcastic, which often goes unnoticed here. Kenyans aren't big on sarcasm.
I'm a tree hugging hippie that manages to be super motivated and educationally driven. Though I'm done with school for awhile at least.
I love to travel and to try to get an actual feeling for the places, not just see the sights.

Trying (and usually failing miserably) to learn new languages
Dispelling the loud, obnoxious American myth as much as possible (though can in fact be a loud, obnoxious American)

Work wise:
Environmental social work (finding ways for communities, especially those in deep poverty to increase their quality of life through sustainable measures)--told you I was a hippie
Maternal mortality, Gender Based Violence and Women's rights/Human rights.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Slightly morbid, but I've seen my dad's heart. Seriously. He had a transplant and convinced them to keep his original heart and give it to him so that he could have it cremated. So I've seen the heart that he was born with and that slowly quit working at 55.
