About Me

Hi there! My name is Guido, and I’m a Paraguayan student currently living in Taipei, Taiwan. I’ve been here for a year and a half, studying Journalism and Mass Communications while learning Chinese.

I’m openly gay, over 30 years old, and this is my first time living abroad far from my family. It’s been a life-changing experience, and I’m eager to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, explore cultures, and practice languages.

My passions include theatre, performing arts, cultural activities, food, and creating content for Instagram (@guidointw, where I have 7k followers). I’m not much of a party person, but I’m incredibly curious and love engaging in meaningful conversations and new experiences.

I pride myself on being clean and respectful. I don’t snore (confirmed by a sleep app!), and I manage my allergies well. Unfortunately, I can’t host guests at the moment as I share a small apartment, but I’d love to meet up, exchange stories, and even teach you some Guarani (my native language), Spanish, or practice English together.

If you’re in Taipei, feel free to reach out. Let’s share good vibes and experiences!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a scholarship student without a job and have a limited monthly income, making it challenging to afford hotels or rental places. However, being in a new place presents a valuable opportunity for me to connect with people. I find immense joy in listening to stories as they often inspire and motivate me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a passion for pop music and enjoy watching a wide array of movies, excluding horror. I'm open to learning and trying new experiences, though I lean towards conventional and commercial interests. In my home country, I used to host Oscars party viewings and had a knack for accurately predicting the winners.

When it comes to books, I'm forever a teenager at heart. I'm drawn to love stories, science fiction, and novels that allow me to escape into different worlds. Adulthood was never something I aspired to through my reading choices.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made a significant decision in my thirties: I left my 'amazing job,' departed from my country, and left behind family and friends to pursue learning a new language and achieve my long-awaited degree in Taiwan. This move stands as living proof that it's never too late to pursue your dreams and start anew from scratch.
