About Me
Hi! I'm new to this community and practice but have always valued the transformative power of hospitality and am excited to get started! I'd say perhaps my favorite thing from all of my travels is engaging with a place--its people and culture--in a welcoming space such as the home of a stranger or new friend--and together enjoying a shared meal, conversation, laughter. I've been to 20 some countries across three continents, and look forward to what lies ahead.
Currently, I'm a graduate research assistant and studying to earn my Master's in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I'm passionate about the archival profession and its role in social activism in the decision-making process of what and who gets remembered and which voices are volumized and etched into history--seeking to promote inclusive and diverse representation.
I'm originally from Minneapolis, MN and have a wonderful family and dog (best friend) named Gimli. I love to read, write poetry, take my dog on walks, explore new places, and try new things. I also enjoy live music and art and the outdoors (camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, etc).
Music, Movies, and Books
My absolute favorite band: Overcoats. Others include Missy Higgins, Joshua Radin, Johnny Cash, Etta James, The Beatles, and a whole slew of others I can't recall. Generally, I love folk, femme electronic pop, and alternative/light rock.
Favorite movies: Sleepers, The Way Back, LOTR, Iron Giant, The Interpreter, Arrival, Vertigo.
Favorite books: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The Poisonwood Bible, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, LOTR, The Nightingale, Ralph Waldo Emerson's collection of poetry and essays, The Chosen
