About Me

ABOUT ME

I am friendly, bubbly, interested in people, different cultures, different lives, etc. I am happy to help with washing up, cooking dinner, shopping, etc. I am very happy to make a meal for my host, though I do not eat meat, fish or dairy (but you can generally add that to the meal). I am not bad at cooking and generally make wholesome, healthy, tasty meals. Interesting fact, I can second in the World Dock Pudding Championship last year.

I retired last June and went to Glastonbury Festival and celebrated!

I worked in edtech, after a career in education, lecturing mostly.

I haven't used Couchsurfing in some time, hence only have 1 reference I'm afraid but am happy to provide anything else that will help.

My friend, Veronica, asked me if I'd like to go travelling in Australia so here I am again looking for adventure and to meet locals/internationals. Travelling broadens the mind. Initially we've been using 'Workaway' so we can give back but we are not getting many responses, hence I'm trying Couchsurfing again.

We are travelling to Oz for 6 weeks and have thus far booked tickets, applied for Visas and secured 1 workaway north of Newcastle. Our flight home leaves Brisbane six weeks later.

We land 16th Feb at 18:30 and are hoping to stay in the Sydney area for about a week to explore the city, likely museums, cultural places, possibly some sights - though more likely to avoid shopping and tourist trips.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To broaden my mind, to get to know the real country that I am travelling in, to meet more like-minded people. My one and only CS experience was fantastic. I loved learning about the people, culture, life, arts, music, politics, history of the country I stayed in.

CS is a much richer experience than staying in hotels.

Interests

I like live music, culture, parks, museums, shops, gardening, nature, bars, restaurants, cafes, talking, finding out about different cultures, etc.

I thought my day's of late nights in clubs were over but went out last weekend and didn't get home until 3am after dancing on tables, etc. I had a hoot and made new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Film - Life is Beautiful

Music - probably disco! but I love lots of different types of music. I was a huge Bowie fan, I was a punk in my youth. I've seen the Rolling Stones about 7 times. I love blues and soul.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had a son and spent many trips away with him.
Seen animals in the wild in Africa.
Been six inches from a wild elephants face.
Slept in a tent in the wild in Botswana.
Cycled London to Paris.
Came third in the World Dock Pudding Championship.
Visited the O museum in Washington.
Watched sunset and sunrise over the Grand Canyon.
