About Me
Sono una sognatrice ad occhi aperti con un orologio ingombrante nella tasca posteriore dei pantaloni. Mi piacciono le avventure con gli amici e sto bene anche in mia compagnia!
Hello beautiful human,
My name is Gioia. I live in Bologna, but I feel most at home in conversations, train stations, kitchens at midnight, and long walks where stories unfold naturally.
I’m an artist and comic-book storyteller working on a long-term graphic novel set in a post-Chernobyl future. I think in images, metaphors and atmospheres. I notice the way light enters a room, the silence between words, the small shifts in energy when people speak.
I have a strong intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence which means I love meaningful conversations, but I also respect boundaries and personal space. I can be intense in my curiosity about life, yet I am learning the art of attunement: listening before entering.
I travel independently — often by bike or train — and I love discovering places through the people who inhabit them rather than through tourist lists. I enjoy cooking together, language exchanges (Italian, English, some Bulgarian and spanish), sharing books, walks, and small rituals of daily life.
I don’t smoke, I’m tidy, and I value clear communication. I’m happy to adapt to the rhythm of the house. If you need quiet, I can be quiet. If you want stories, I have many.
Hosting and being hosted, for me, is not about free accommodation. It’s about exchanging perspectives, widening the inner map of the world, and practicing trust between strangers.
If you feel resonance, I would be happy to meet you.
With warmth,
Gioia 🌿
P.S. For transparency: ChatGPT helped me write this, but it feels very much like me 😁
Also, many people tell me that I'm funny!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to cultivate sisterhood and fraternity. Informal education works better for me and listening to people's travel stories makes me feel like I'm traveling too, and I really really enjoy learning about different customs and cultures. For example, what's your favorite celebration, and how do you celebrate it? a joke that makes you laugh? a saying you feel close to it?
I learnt one in Bulgarian which says: The sun is playing, the rain is falling, the bear is getting married
Interests
I’m currently working on a personal project which is a screenplay for a comic book story. I enjoy traveling by bike and filming small artistic documentaries. I’m learning to speak Bulgarian. I also appreciate dark chocolate, word games, and collecting foreign coins and banknotes.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: The Master and Margarita
currently I'm listening to The Idiot
Movies: Little miss sunshine, Blade Runner
