About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of this world as possible, while meeting awesome people!

ABOUT ME

Hi! Simona here.
Born and raised in the beautiful city of Riga in the heart of Latvia. The small Baltic country is very very dear to my heart, and I try to visit it as often as possible.
Moved to Massachusetts in 2003 and have been living in and around Boston ever since.
Recently graduated from one of the colleges in the area with a business degree. Am very interested in linguistics and am trying to find time to learn a few more languages (Swedish - because I love Sweden, Turkish - because I currently work at a place filled with Turkish-speakers AND it's a beautiful language).
I very much enjoy going out to shows. Favorite venue in Boston is the Paradise Rock Club (Check it out, if you have a chance. Plenty of lovely food establishments close to it, as well.).
Although I failed at learning to play any instrument besides the triangle, I listen to music probably 80% of the time I am awake. My taste is sophisticated enough to allow me to also be a huge fan of the Eurovision Song Contest. ;)

PHILOSOPHY

Inspired by my Buddhism class, I will use this quote for now:

“A broken cart cannot move; an old person cannot cultivate. Yet still we humans lie, lazy and indolent; still we humans sit, with minds distracted. How many lives have we not cultivated? Yet still we pass the day and night in vain. How many lives have we spent in our useless bodies? Yet still we do not cultivate in this lifetime either. This life must come to an end; but what of the next? Is this not urgent? Is this not urgent?” - from “Arouse Your Mind and Practise!” by Wonhyo (617-686), translated by Robert Buswell.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having joined CS fairly recently, am looking forward to meeting people and trying to get a sense of what the CS community is like. I joined because a lot of my friends have been telling me how much they've enjoyed the experience and finally convinced me to try. We'll see how this goes :] Based on my availability, I would love to show people around the Greater Boston Area. Don't hesitate to ask!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met quite a few amazing people through couch surfing in a matter of months, without leaving the city I live in! That is pretty fascinating to me.
Had the pleasure of meeting quite a few awesome people while staying in Latvia for almost a month. Couchsurfing is great when it comes to exploring the cities outside of what's in the travel guides.
