About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have a lot of adventures whilst exploring the world.

ABOUT ME

I have embarked on a round-the-world trip in the hope of meeting great people, eating incredible food and seeking new adventures. I hope this trip will be one of many to come...

PHILOSOPHY

This is all a bit deep. I don't have much of a philosophy to preach. I always run the risk of eating my words by doing so.
Before travelling I always had a fear of the unknown and used routine as a safety blanket. I was afraid of doing the wrong thing, whatever that was. This meant that I spent a sizable chunk of my life not really doing anything.
One day, I snapped out of this rut and decided to go travelling around the world, alone. It's the best decision I have ever made. I see now that I can do so much more than I let myself believe. I still don't really know what I want to do in life, but rather than sit around working 9-5 and watching the world go by, I'm choosing to live first and think later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in Japan and Australia through people I met on my travels and in America through the CS website. I've loved my experiences so far. It's a great way to mix with the locals and truly get to know the area.

I've also met people from the website even if they are unable to host me. I've enjoyed getting to know people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Interests

Films, food, cake, baking, running or general outdoor activities, comedy, writing, learning new things, meeting new people, getting lost yet discovering something I'd never have come across if I hadn't (serendipity perhaps?)...

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Anything but horror
Music: Again, mixed bag. It depends what mood I'm in and what I'm doing. To relax I listen to - Elbow, Laura Marling, Dry the River, Jeff Buckley, Frank Turner, Jack White. I like listening to rock - Foo Fighters, Muse, Kasabian, Band of Skulls...there are probably many more bands and artists that are on my ipod but I've forgotten.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sun rise on Mount Fuji, falling out of a plane, falling off the edge of a canyon, swimming with manta rays, meditating with monks, eating sushi with locals, waking up stress free knowing that the only thing I need to worry about is what to have for breakfast...

Teach, Learn, Share

If there's something you've always wanted to do but have held back out of fear, circumstance or because you don't think it is the "right" thing to do then switch off your brain and listen to your heart. Do it. Live. It's an unbelievably freeing feeling that I hope everyone experiences in their lives.
