About Me

Hi! My name is Gisselle and I am currently a student at the University of Bologna. I am from Los Angeles, which is where I grew up. I'm Mexican-American and a very curious person, so much to the point where I am actually studying philosophy... I love people and listening to others and seeing what others' perspectives are in hope that it can broaden mine :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel as though it is very interesting where I am in my life right now. Not ever did I think that I would end up studying Italian, and after 3 years of college in Los Angeles, I decided that studying abroad was finally something that had to be done. I feel like I've always been told to follow such a structured life that now I just want to let things fall into place. There is always so much energy shifting around us and I think no one pauses to feel that because they're so busy doing something else.

Music, Movies, and Books

Holy Ghost!, Cashmere Cat, Toro y Moi, Com Truise, RL Grime, DJ Snake, Grimes, Wild Nothing, ODESZA, Blood Orange, Tame Impala, Beirut, Ella Fitzgerald, The Xx, Flume, Grizzly Bear, ZHU, Beach House, The Drums, Slow Magic, Giraffage, Fleet Foxes, Jamie Xx, King Krule.. I like a lot of indie stuff!

Books: Before studying Italian and Philosophy I was majoring in English literature, so I have the "canon" under my belt, but now almost all I read are books on philosophy, like The Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and the various aphorisms of Diogenes of Sinope. I am currently reading Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl.
