About Me

Hello to you, Couchsurfers!! I'm Italian born and bred, but after my high school I moved to England to study biology at the uni of Sheffield and have lived there ever since.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and making new international friends, that's why! :) My university is a very international place and it gave me the chance to learn so much about so many different cultures. I think Couchsurfing is just another great way to do it. I also study French and Chinese, so meeting locals is a great way for me to improve my language skills.

Interests

Being a biologist, I like having a stroll in places of natural beauty. Though I'm not a proper trekker/higher, I love going camping with a bunch of good friends, but my favourite outdoor activity is definitely riding horses. I absolutely adore them!
I also like art, so when I visit places I often go to see museums and monuments, although I think art can be found just as well in a nice coffee shop or by listening to a street artist.
Among my hobbies there's photography, reading, cooking, going to the theatre and learning new languages. But the one thing that's taken over everything else is no doubt salsa.....I can never have enough!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Oh, the list is long and varied! I can go from Mozart to MUSE to jazz (I love Caro Emerald!) depending on the mood of the situation.

Movies: Amélie from Montmartre (Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain), Chocolat, Non Ci Resta Che Piangere, Dead Poets Society (L'Attimo Fuggente), Her, anything that has Disney written on it (although Shrek is awesome too)...again, the list is long.

TV series: The Big Bang Theory (love it!), Community, Miranda, Fawlty Towers

Books: Pride and Prejudice, the Harry Potter saga, Life of Pi, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Anna Karenina

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bought a pair of running shoes (which implies the amazing concept of me soon going running...! How has that ever come to be?!!). Ok seriously now, together with some friends here in Sheffield, I run the activities of a group of people that are either Italian or interested in Italian culture. As part of it, I taught Italian at the Sheffield University Languages festival, organized many a dinner, movie screening, day trips around England and even a treasure hunt.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can practice conversational Italian, French or English with anyone willing to learn and give advice on which resources to use to learn. I have a TEFL certificate to teach English as a foreign language, so I'm planning to spend some time at some point in my life somewhere cool and use it, ideally a francophone country. I can also teach you a few fun steps of salsa, bachata and swing dance.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Is cooking some traditional Italian food an option? :) Otherwise, my utmost gratitude for hosting me, some crazy salsa steps together and the willingness to host them in my turn. Oh, and a little present to say thanks, of course!
