About Me

Hi Everybody!
I'm Giulia, I'm an italian girl passionate about travel and different cultures. I haven't travelled around the world but I love discovering new cultures, languages and people. Each of us is a story, a country, a whole world of dishes, music, traditions, art, nature and much more! I believe that you can't get bored if you talk to a stranger, therefore I do my best to keep myself curious and opened to the unexpected ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the idea of hosting and being hosted just for the pleasure of discovering a new place with the locals who live there. Plus I enjoy learning foreign languages and I'd be happy to practise those I'm learning by hosting somebody. I like talking about the history of my hometown Verona, bringing friends here and there discovering the town, so I think Couchsurfing could be the right way to do that. I haven't experienced it jet but I'm eager to!

Interests

Ok, let's "tidy up" a little! I have 3 big passions: art (watercolouring and drawing), cinema (old, black&white and french) and yoga.

Then, I enjoy listening to live music, specially if it's jazz or classical, but I love also folk music from southern Europe (spanish, sicilian, greek...).

Finally, there are places that belong to my heart (England) and places I've never been and I'd like to go (Normabdy, Bretagne, Spain, India, Sri Lanka).

Since I'm corious, unfortunately this list is not finished and it changes, but yes these are the most important passions.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
Jazz, above all. Classic, modern, experimental. I love Nina Simone and Cole Porter.
The other music passion are pizzica and taranta, two southern italian folk music that have also their dances. These kinds of music are played with traditional big hand-drums, clappers, guitars, violins and voice; the rhythm is very fast and full of energy... you must experience it once in your life!

Film
"Jules et Jim" is my favourite movie. I'm a Francois Truffaut and Alfred Hitchcock addicted.
I like Richard Linklater, Wes Anderson and others. I generally enjoy comedies, b/w movies.

Books
I finished "Midnight's Children" by Salman Rushdie and I loved it.
I'm presently reading "All That Man Is" by

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking for an hour through greek mountains to reach the archeological site of Lato by myself, under an August sun, with the only company of a beautiful eagle.

Pretending to be invited to a fashion show during the Milan Fashion Week, and ending up seated next to John Richmond!

Taking part to a street-theatre performance in the center of Rome, during a festival dedicated to the civil rights of the Palestinian people

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn french and hindi, so couchsurfers from these countries are more than welcomed!
I'd like also to discover more about cider.
I think I'd enjoy teaching some massage tecniques as well as yoga.
Fore those keen in languages, I speak italian and english.
I'm pretty good in drawing, in art hostory and italian culture.
If It might be of interest, I do advertising campaigns and if you've got something to promote I could give you some tips ;)

I love sharing , so I share all that can be shared for pleasure, for personal enrichment, for culture and for fun!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can pick you up from the train station, I have a sofa-bed and a bathroom with a kitchen area, so you could have breakfast and meals. I'd like to bring you around the town visiting churches, parks, museums, tipical restaurants, gelaterie, pubs and so on! I could bring you to the local language exchange to meet other italians and foreigners as well :-)
