À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
I would like to meet people from all walks of lives, cultures, nationalities and backgrounds. Seeing more of this world has always been one of my missions in life.
ABOUT ME
The one thing I miss about not being a student is that it is now much harder to meet people from different cultures, nationalities and backgrounds. It is rather unfortunate that I have not been able to travel as much as I would have liked due to my commitment to my career. I believe there is a difference between 'travelling' and 'holidaying'. I have been able to take short holidays or 'city breaks' but regrettably, I no longer have the luxury of taking extended breaks to travel. I miss meeting fellow travellers - the discussions about where one's been and what one's seen and done.
I love the life. I caught the travelling bug when I was living in Australia some 20 odd years ago and have not looked back since.
I can be a bit of a materialist (not in a negative way) when I am back home in Scotland but this is because I work very hard and I don't forget to reward myself for my hard work.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I remember the few days I spent with a Tanzanian family, in a small town just outside the Serengeti National Park, in a tiny room which was their living room, kitchen and bedroom for a family with 3 kids. Bathroom/toilet was about 20 yards away with no running water (and no door). I was given a wee bucket with some water in it to wash. Not exactly 'couch-surfing' is it? but I enjoyed every second of their company and it is something I will remember for a long time.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
My most memorable experience has got to be my stay at Tibet's largest and best preserved monastery. I was the first foreigner to be allowed to stay in that monastery, which happened to be home to Tibet's highest religious figure - the Panchen Lama. It was somewhat like the replay of Seven Years in Tibet. He was 14 years old, a wise and matured young man and there I was walking about within the monastery in my Bermuda shorts, sunglasses and flip-flops!! He was fascinated by this 'westerner' and I was excited (and tremendously honoured) to have the opportunity to get to know him... we became good friends.
