ABOUT ME
I'm a coffee lover, graduate student, compulsive knitter, former, current, and future teacher. I've calmed the wanderlust for a moment and have a lovely little life, but I can't keep those distant shores from a-callin' too long.
I'm an aesthete, living in a dusty-gray world, hoping to pull in a splash of chartreuse or vermilion from time to time.
PHILOSOPHY
Philosophy? I'm trying to sink into a life of real things - real friendships, real love, real joy, real pain, real work, real happiness. I do believe that there's a pulse to everything, a whorl, and a million invisible spiderwebs that keep us all together. I don't know if I'm living for the end results, the magnum opus of life itself, but I think I'm invested in bringing more blissed-out joy into my own life and those lives around me in the here and now. Not proclaiming hedonism or irresponsibility, but appreciating the present and continually thinking about making it better.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm drawn to the couch-surfer types in my friendships (whatever those couch-surfer types are - I know it's far from a homogenous group), so I've found myself crashing with couchsurfers inadvertently at times. I'm trying to use it now as a way to reconnect to my local community, something that I feel I've grown distant from recently, and the global community around me.
Interests
I love: music, art, dance. Making these things. Working with my hands. Getting dirt under my fingernails. Running in the rain. Cycling. The city. (Even cycling in the city in the rain...)
Playing with small children. Reading large novels. Walking and walking and walking until there are holes in the soles of my shoes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Waking up early to go watch the sun rise over Lake Baikal was amazing. Mist on the water, rolling hills, and icy cold air.
Teach, Learn, Share
English, some Russian
knitting, spinning yarn
-yoga-
salsa, swing, and ballroom dance
playing the bagpipes, flute
baking and the creation of delicious treats - primarily using chocolate
I'm working on learning Russian better, and Ancient Greek, and struggling with my relationship to yoga. I'd love to learn guitar and banjo (all of which live at my house), cello, bassoon...I'd love to learn a new dance, a new song, a new poem, a new way at looking at things.
**If you've got an interesting skill, let me be your apprentice for an hour.**
