About Me

Hello! I’m Gökhan from Antalya, though originally from Kayseri. I’ve been living in this beautiful coastal city for a while now.
I work in biostatistics and medical informatics - basically dealing with health data and research. What I really love about my job is the freedom it gives me. All I need is my laptop and backpack, and I can work from pretty much anywhere. This flexibility really feeds my love for traveling.
For me, traveling isn’t about ticking off tourist spots from a list. It’s more about meeting people, hearing their stories, and experiencing how others live their daily lives. I think every trip becomes more meaningful when you share it with others - whether it’s swapping stories, sharing a meal, or just walking together through a new city. That’s why I love hitchhiking and Couchsurfing so much. They’re not just ways to get around or find a place to sleep - they’re chances to connect with people I’d never meet otherwise.
I try to live without putting too many limits on myself. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you don’t plan. I believe in keeping a positive attitude and putting good energy out there. It sounds cheesy maybe, but I really think a simple smile can turn strangers into friends 😊
Life’s pretty short when you think about it, so why not make the most of it? Every person has their own unique story, and I’d love to hear yours if our paths cross. Let’s make some good memories together, one conversation at a time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hey fellow travelers!
For me, traveling isn't just about seeing new places or trying different food. It's about understanding how other people see the world. Everyone I meet has their own way of looking at life, and that's what fascinates me. Every conversation teaches me something new.
I love hitchhiking. There's something amazing about jumping into a stranger's car, sharing stories during the ride, and often ending up with a new friend by the end. These rides - whether they're hours long or just a few minutes - have taught me more about people than anything else.
Couchsurfing is the same for me. It's not about getting a free place to sleep. It's about seeing how locals actually live, sharing stories and ideas, making real connections. That's what I'm here for - genuine human interaction, not hotel service.
If you believe everyone has something to teach, if you love swapping stories, or if you just see the world differently and want to talk about it, I'd love to meet you! Let's make our travels count.
Note: If you're sending me a request, please include the word "perspective" somewhere in your message so I know you've actually read my profile. Can't stand copy-paste requests 😊

Interests

Really into discovering new cities and cultures, especially places off my beaten path. But nature is where I feel most at home - forests, lakes, seaside, doesn't matter. I can spend hours there without touching my phone, just enjoying the quiet.
I mess around with photography sometimes. Not pro level or anything, but occasionally I nail a shot that surprises even me!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into all kinds of music from different cultures - no specific genre really, just whatever sounds good to me. Can't sing to save my life though!
Indian and Korean films have always caught my attention more than others. That said, I watch foreign series from pretty much anywhere. On the road, I'm more of a book and radio person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've hitchhiked all over Turkey - didn't matter if it was pouring rain, muddy roads, middle of winter or crazy hot summer days. Just kept going.
Hitchhiking here in Turkey? Man, it's quite the adventure every single time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk for hours about my work - clinical studies, data collection, the whole process. Happy to share what I know if anyone's interested 😊
But I'm equally enthusiastic about listening to others. Everyone's got different life experiences and perspectives, and that's what makes meeting new people so interesting for me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First off, I'm pretty handy in the kitchen - especially with Turkish dishes. Happy to cook together or prepare something for you. I make a mean menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs) and my börek isn't bad either 😊
I genuinely enjoy helping out around the house. Need help with groceries, cleaning, fixing something? Just ask. I treat every place like my own home.
Love sharing stories from my travels - hitchhiking across Turkey, random encounters, funny mishaps. Got plenty of those! And I'm equally interested in hearing yours.
If you're curious about Turkish culture, language, or just want to practice some Turkish phrases, I'm your guy. Can teach you some words that'll definitely make locals smile when you visit Turkey.
I work with medical research data, so if you ever wondered how clinical studies work or anything health-related, I can explain it without boring you to death, promise!
Most importantly, I bring good energy and respect. I'm not here just for a bed - I'm here for the exchange, the conversation, and the connection. Whether you want to go out exploring together or just chill at home, I'm flexible.
Oh, and if there's anything specific you want from Turkey next time I visit - just let me know in advance. Always happy to bring some Turkish delight, spices, or whatever you're curious about!
