ABOUT ME

Once there was, once there was not; that I want to start everything with, like my fairy tales. Since I was a kid, I had a really hard time to go back to sleep once I woke up during the night. Everything surrounding me was so playful, so twinkly, so distracting that I would walk from room to room, watch my family sleeping, watch the reflection of the city and car light on the ceiling move around by the passing time. This distraction and amazement of my surroundings sometimes took itself to dangerous positions.

Occasionally I would walk away from my parents or siblings and walk around the street.

Growing up in the middle-eastern region and a big city like Istanbul was actually very dangerous, however each time I would end up in the police stations, run into my parents somewhere. I still don’t know how I was found. I was between 3-8 when I had this habit.

As a grown up artist, I became better at putting a leash on this adventurous habits but still kept the free spirit of a kid’s. Each time I figure something out about nature, it amazes me even more and makes me think of all the universes that people have in their brains and of the other dimensions.

My art is highly inspired by the nature and a lot of the metaphysics. I believe that if everything is made of atoms, they are all alive. They serve different function, some are just stay still like rocks, or some are very dynamic like flies but they are still made of atoms.

I have been thinking a lot of the time recently. How it is dependent on our mass and perception of gravity. Like a fly is moving fast in its own time but for a fly, we seem to present a slower motion than they do. So, a lot of the time I capture a moment of a fragmentation or a frozen moment of everything moving based on the human perception of time. I want to share my excitement, thus I use these ideas a lot in my art.

I do not know what will be my beliefs or ideas be like within the following years of my grey haired youth but I know I will yet still be captured by every little prisms of molecules and spawning bacteria or by an elegant deer eating the flowers of my windows.

I have never had any experience yet through this website but as a part of my culture, I have slept at many of my neighbors', friends', relatives' couches and served my couch to them at the same time.
