About Me

CURRENT MISSION

You are free to come visit Tehran, in fact we would love you to. Us? We would rather start digging the other way!

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Golnar and I live with my husband Pooyan, in the heart of giant, noisy, steamy and crowded city of Tehran. You might have heard the "it has it's ups and downs" joke about elevator guys but you can say the same thing to describe life in Tehran, not only in terms of being fun and tough at the same time, but physically too!
We've been married for almost two years now and we live on a 4th floor apartment owned by Pooyan's father, where seems to be a good place to get started without being much worried about not having highly paid jobs. I work as an instructor in a few colleges a few days a week and Pooyan is currently doing his military service in a Hospital north of Tehran. My husband is a musician also, he tends to spend a lot of time behind his computer in the studio where we have an extra couch to share, while I usually read, I love doing that. Apart from that and the considerable portion of time there's music being played in our living room we're generally a quiet couple, yes we both have a big crush for music, in fact music was why we got to meet in the first place. We also have a thing for nature and the environment, so from time to time we take short trips with friends, to the mountains north of Tehran, or sometimes remote locations. Pooyan is careless sometimes but I am quite serious about recycling, cooking health food and keeping our carbon footprint low, well you can't blame me for caring too much.

I almost forgot to say we love to party a lot, we do have a reputation for my cooking skills and Pooyan's hobby of homebrewing among friends.

All and all we're doing the best we can to be happy, learn more and make some good out of our lives while we keep away from the many unpleasant things that wait for us right at our door.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are amazed by the imagination of the possibilities this community might bring. We are not just ready to surf but we'd be glad to host. check our couch info for details.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are new to this thing, but we both think this is an amazing community, we have friends that have been around here for a while and they let us know about it too.
We have plans of taking trips and probably ask for friends on couchsurfing to host us but thats not going to happen for another year or so.

Interests

We both share a deep interest in music, our living room revolves around our stereo and we do spend a lot of time poking it. we're also a big fan of TV series, in fact we are always in the middle of some thing good.
We have an open mind about taking exotic trips, the only problem is taking a few days off from our jobs, always.
I enjoy having long conversations, I'm always eager to learn new stuff, if you're into politics or specifically a WWII fanatic then Pooyan is your guy.
I'm sort of new to it but Pooyan is a big game fan, we have this playstation console that I don't think he minds to share, in case you keep the volume low of course!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is kind of big in our lives, specifically we're interested in rock/indie but we always try to have an open set of ears. If I am to make a list of favorite bands and stuff its gonna take all day, and ruin an opportunity for interesting talks on the subject.

Wide taste of books, science, environment and philosophy is my subject, Pooyan again is more into politics.

Movies, we're kind of in the middle of the spectrum, we try to have a taste of everything but we're no professionals. We try our best not to lose a chance to watch the must see's though. But as I said earlier, we are a big fan for many TV series, we handpick what we watch and then get a little too serious about it. hehe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every moment is amazing, until they're not.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm particularly interested in learning more about philosophy, different cultures and environmental concerns, Pooyan is more into stuff like biology and of course music, we'd be more than glad to be learning from our guests.
Pooyan is kind of rusty in teaching, but if you're insistent enough maybe you can learn a few tricks on the guitar from him, I on the other hand am more experienced teaching, if there is any subject you're interested in around my line of expertise then I'm glad to teach it to you. And we all do have some experience in culinary, why not exchange a few tips? I can think of a million things we can teach and get taught, our hearts are ripped open.
