About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of the world as possible, meet new people, have new experiences, co-exist with human beings and learn about myself along the way. To push my sphere of experience and get out of my comfort zone a little bit.

ABOUT ME

I am a filmmaker, writer, graphic designer, and musician. I like art a lot. I believe my superpower is the ability to select the worst line to wait in at the grocery store. I have synesthesia. I am the child of missionary parents who decided we would live in Indonesia for four years when I was a child, despite my fervent warnings about the local snakes and spiders; it was my belief that they had not thought this through, but I was five and they didn’t listen. I strongly suspect that the people at Netflix are judging my life choices. I can make a straw wrapper crawl like a worm in a true miracle of life. I don’t understand why Jim Henson has not been made a saint. For a good while my emergency contact in my phone was listed as the local Number One China restaurant. Which I was actually ok with, because I know the lady who works there and if her dedication to food service is any indication, she would be there immediately in an emergency.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a big believer in equality, in everybody's right to live their lives in the way they choose to, and in the idea that we're all here to help each other out when we need it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None thus far, but eager to get some and meet some new people.

Interests

I love films (being a filmmaker) and gravitate toward science fiction and historical epics. I love the classics. I read as much as I can, and most days am trying to make myself write something in the hopes that one of my projects will take off. I love music and have been a guitarist for about ten years now, half of that time I have gotten classical training. I like talking about philosophy, and learning about other people and other cultures. I interested in traveling, and seeing as much of the world as I possibly can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen the Northern Lights, and lived in a tiny village in Indonesia without plumbing or electricity. Also once I got a fortune cookie with two fortunes. TWO FORTUNES.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach guitar, I've given lessons before, and in a pretty wide variety of styles. I can also teach or help out with other art things: photography, writing and editing, video production, graphic design, etc.
