About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Waking up each morning and looking forward to enjoying whatever the day brings.

ABOUT ME

I'm told I'm an interesting and fun person which I treat as a compliment. I live a bit of a chameleon lifestyle because of my work and hobbies, one day I might be working with strict schedules, budgets and folk I've never met or worked with before, the next day I can be doing storytelling sessions in my Viking tent or off doing walking tours around Skye and Lochalsh.
Have had many ups and downs in life, been rich, been poor had many adventures have lots of stories and have enjoyed connections with beautiful people along the way (some assholes too).
Enjoy the outdoors and positive people.
Have 2 boys (16 & 23)
Good person to be stranded on a desert island with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I back packed for several years and have crashed on many couches and floors and have returned the favour, Couchsurfing allows me to extend that circle as I hope to be travelling again soon.
If I have time I don't mind showing you around, I have a few secret places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have never had any problems with Couchsurfing.
I've met some beautiful and amazing people, some are still in my life.
I enjoy the spirit of a traveller, hearing their story and sharing their journey.

Interests

Life and living it and experiencing as much as I can.
I work as a Location Scout / Manager for the Film, Television and Media Industry, I do Tour Guiding on Skye and throught the Highlands of Scotland and I'm currently developing a Viking Living History Village and Technology Centre
I'm lucky I travel all over Scotland with my work, sometimes it's a city, sometimes a remote beach or the top of a mountain.
I have a big interest in History and Archaeology.
I belong to several Viking / Celtic Living History groups and we do re-enactment, yes that means we dress up and play with swords and go away and do time trips back a 1,000 or so years.
I enjoy music, books and films on all subjects, I enjoy conversation and sometimes just being silent or sitting outside in the sunshine doing nothing
I can strum a guitar and am also pretty handy in the kitchen.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything to everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailed around Britain on a replica Viking Longship.

Teach, Learn, Share

The teaching and learning comes from sharing.
I've taught past CS's how to use a spear and sword, shoot a longbow, use Runes, strum a couple of chords on the guitar, speak a bit of Gaelic and put a record on a turntable.
You'll learn about Scottish history, myths and legends, Scots culture, art and music.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can only share my home and myself, take it or leave it.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Gambia, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, United States
