Overview
About Me
We are a European couple. Gosia is from Poland and Paul from Germany.
We are currently traveling extensively and have spent close to 5 years on the road - not planning to stop anytime soon. Just love it too much.
"That man is richest whose pleasures are the cheapest."
—Henry David Thoreau, 1817–1862
"Most of the luxuries, and many of the so-called comforts of life,
are not only not indispensable, but positive hindrances to the
elevation of mankind."
—Henry David Thoreau, 1817–1862
"To those who have struggled with them, the mountains reveal
beauties that they will not disclose to those who make no effort.
That is the reward the mountains give to effort. And it is because
they have so much to give and give it so lavishly to those who will
wrestle with them that men love the mountains and go back to
them again and again. The mountains reserve their choice gifts
for those who stand upon their summits."
—Sir Francis Younghusband, 1863–1942
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Come to think of it, this is the only social network either of us two is signed up for.
I think that may very well be because we all end up spending considerable amount of time in the digital world. But this is physical... Lick it like honey from your fingers and it sustains you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Survived a night of lightning strikes, while being trapped on the top of a mountain, only to wake up to a beautiful sunrise.
Falling asleep in a Buddhist monastery, in a tiny mountain village in Burma, after a long day hike and being awoken by monks chanting.
Hiking over a 3431m high pass in the Greater Caucasus Mountains and realizing a limit is reached, but pushing the envelope further.
Being most frolic on an alpine meadow, covered in hundreds of species of wildflowers blooming, while having an impossibly breathtaking alpine view as the backdrop.
Hiking from the middle of Iceland's Highlands to the sea, over 250km self supported.
Survived a night in tent in the midst of hurricane in Iceland. Outside was madness and we were forced by the conditions to walk to the nearest shelter. Wind speed over 140km/h was sweeping us off our feet constantly. Falling, struggling, but keep on going.
Seeing the Northern Lights and Milkyway while soaking in hot water.
Snorkelling with sea turtles in Ningaloo Reef.
Hiking along non-tourist parts of The Great Wall of China.
Listening to Pearl Jam live.
Experiencing the hospitality and kindness of so many people.
Teach, Learn, Share
Diabolo juggling
Kayak roll
Cooking
Face massage
How to build a fire (believe me its a good one to know ;-)
