我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I once did a night dive off the coast Honduras during a tumultuous storm. The charter decided to not cancel the trip at the request of me and one other diver, we barley made it out through the surf into a black moonless night where the size of the waves was more felt than seen.

I jumped into the dark, violent water and we quickly descended to 40 meters where the ocean began to calm. We signaled to one another to turn off all our dive lights and the moment we did the liquid became vibrantly alive.

As far as the eye could see in every direction, up, down and all around, there were purple phosphorescent glow worms dancing rhythmically with the pulse of the tide, slowly dripping downward toward something, like stars in synchronous motion to the beat of a washing drum.
