Recent Yale grad applying to medical school with the dream of working in global health. I'm currently teaching 10th grade chemistry at my old high school, which is an absolute dream as much because of my students as because of my fellow teachers. Apart from my obvious love of all things science, I love learning new languages, eating all kinds of new (vegetarian) food, hearing people share their stories, and sharing mine as well.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I first joined Couchsurfing while doing the Camino de Santiago this past summer (2015) in Spain. The experience of backpacking first on my own, and eventually with so many people from all different countries, ages, and walks of life prompted me to sign up for Couchsurfing as a way to hopefully continue meeting and learning from people all over the world as I travel, and hopefully sharing with them in the same special/communal spirit that I experienced in Spain.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I spent two months living in a batey in the Dominican Republic the summer of 2014, doing global health research on the racial disparities between Haitian migrants and native Dominicans in accessing healthcare. Living there involved embracing every part of daily life in a batey - including mosquitoes, heat, no electricity, and no potable water - but it was by far the most incredible learning experience of my life.

Cooking! (Special skill- I'm very good at gluten free cooking, thanks to my mom who can't eat gluten, and I'm also vegetarian, so I'm happy to cook up basically anything!) My family is also from Guatemala, so I can also make some traditional Guatemalan dishes. I'm also fluent in English, Spanish and French, I'm always happy to play interpreter. Other than that, it would be such a pleasure to just share your company and listen to your experiences, as much as share my own!
