About Me

Born in California, went to high school and college in England. Got my undergrad BSc in Astrophysics, but after this trip I’ll probably get a masters in something related to climate change. yay.

I play drums, and love to cook. I’m currently on a road trip through Mexico and a little bit of Central America, in search of rhythmic and culinary wisdom! Traveling in a 1978 Toyota Chinook Newport motorhome/campervan. Trying to surf as much as I can along the way, and share gas costs with friends, hitchhikers, backpackers, anyone! I have comfortable space for 2, but with some squeezing and moving stuff around could sleep 4 people without too much trouble.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that to find the most authentic local knowledge I need to meet the most authentic, local people! It’s easy in a camper van to just park somewhere in a new town and keep my business to myself, so I’m using Couchsurfing to get more in touch with the communities I travel through.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to and want to learn to play on drums a whole range of African music, some new some old. I also listen to a lot of reggae, specifically UK Dub.

I mostly read old sci-fi from the 30s and 40s, but currently reading through the Dune series

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Started a HipHop society at my university with a few friends, which hosted parties with international open mic rap battles between students

Teach, Learn, Share

As stated above, I’m interested in learning about traditional rhythms and recipes everywhere I go!

I love teaching people about space, and the universe, and How It All Works :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I absolutely love to cook with friends, and for friends!! Other than that I am always up for staying up late talking about life, and motivating everyone around to come to a live concert!
