Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

-Finish my PhD coursework so I can have a relatively normal life again!

-Meet some new friends on my trip to Mexico from Nov. 21-Nov. 28!

ABOUT ME

Hello, I'm Graham. I am currently a PhD student in comparative literature at the University of Michigan.

I love music, studying foreign languages, traveling (like everyone else on CS), movies, reading, and the outdoors. I do my best to embrace my inner optimism despite frequent pressures to the contrary.

PHILOSOPHY

Care about people, spread and consume knowledge freely, create and appreciate art.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like both hosting and surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I learned about Couchsurfing through my former roommate Amber.

We hosted a great deal of people at our house, and all of our experiences were positive. I've surfed across the Northern US, Northeast Canada, Alaska, Spain, and Mexico.

Intereses

I can be pretty introverted at times, but get me talking about any of these topics and I'll likely talk your ear off.

Música, películas y libros

Favorite movie:
Stand By Me
Tied for second place: too many to list.

Music:
Lots of instrumental/electronic stuff these days, as a soundtrack for reading endless grad school assignments. I also like indie music, but does that even mean anything anymore? I can sing my throat hoarse to some pop tunes on a road trip. Also been digging Arabic music of all kinds for the past several years. It's difficult to think of a type of music that I don't like.

Books:

I've read a lot of them, and there are so many more to read. Just finished: Heroes of the Frontier by Dave Eggers. Currently reading: Out of Place by Edward Said, Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I drove from Michigan to Alaska and back with my best friend.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I would love to teach English to Intermediate English-language students.

I would love to practice Arabic / Spanish / Persian with anyone willing to help.
