About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover the world and it's beauty. To meet people and learn about their culture.

ABOUT ME

The family is very important in my life. Our grandchildren have both sets of Grandparents right here in Kaslo. Both daughters live nearby, so we celebrate many holidays and special days together. When I travel it is often with my sister-in-law. I am a quiet person who loves going for walks - along the river trail, beside the lake, or up into the untouched Crown Land at the top of our property. We have a dog and a cat, both rescues.

PHILOSOPHY

Let the river flow....

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love being retired so am able to meet for coffee or go for a hike any time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Am new here but am hoping to make some new CS friends as I travel with family members in Europe this summer. My niece and nephew in Vancouver have hosted many people, so Rain told me about this group.

Interests

I love the mountains, lake and fresh air of our little community of 1000 people. I enjoy hiking with my dog and often with dogs I am pet sitting. I enjoy gardening, and quilting. I bake my own bread. I volunteer at our Library. I love to travel, learning about new cultures, history, art, and meeting all the friendly people in this world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode a camel (Moon)near Aswan, Egypt, then shared a meal with a Nubian family there. Slept in the White Desert, Egypt where we were visited by tiny desert fox momma and her baby, and then watched the sun rise over the amazing white sculptures in that desert. Was amazed to see elephants play soccer and create paintings, then had one fellow share his banana with me (in my hair!),in Thailand. Seems that animals play a big role in my life, doesn't it?

Teach, Learn, Share

Am a retired teacher - taught Special Ed for the last 12 years and very much enjoyed those youngsters. I love working with animals (dogs are welcome though we have no fences), and I cook almost everything from scratch.

Countries I’ve Visited
