To appreciate life and to learn through each new experience to become a more developed person.
I currently live in Guam and work with clients around the world via Skype. I absolutely adore raw foods. I worked as a raw foods caterer's assistant while I lived in Hawaii on an organic farm in 2011. I believe 100% in doing juice fasts a few times a year (ask me about them, they're fabulous!). When I'm not eating raw, I rarely eat seafood and eggs, but no dairy or other animals. My biggest passion is in food. My other loves include rock climbing, dancing, laughing, hiking, being in nature, camping, playing the guitar, traveling, learning languages, being spontaneous, expanding my (limited) entrepreneurial knowledge, and making lifelong memories by trying new things and having new experiences.
This year (2013) I am on the hunt for new experiences around the world. I'm trying to find a raw food retreat that will take me as a volunteer (please let me know if you know of anything). I'm pretty much open for anything so I'll be searching the forums trying to find ideas and/or people to travel with.
I wish you all the best experiences and send lots of love to all in this beautiful Couchsurfing community!
My Past Profile:
I just finished four wonderful years in Eugene with a Biological Anthropology degree from the University of Oregon. I graduated from the anthropology department with honors after writing a thesis on why the return back to the Paleolithic diet (minus all animal source foods) is important for fixing the common health problems in America; namely cancer. I studied abroad in France when I was a sophomore and fell in love with the language and culture. I hope to find my way back there someday, maybe permanently.
My sweet father works for United Airlines so I have been extremely lucky in my life, being able to travel all over the world (however, these benefits end in 1 year!). Currently, I am very interested in spreading awareness about how the American diet contributes to the extremely high cancer rates in the US. I hope to put together a conference of speakers on the subject (first in San Francisco) so people know which foods to especially avoid and which to eat eat, eat!
In my spare time I love to exercise, rock climb, cook/prepare food, hang out with my family, play with furry animals, learn from books, the internet, and others, and especially travel. I volunteer at the Gerson Institute when I can in San Diego, CA since I am a fervent believer in using nutritional therapy to treat cancer. I think organic fruits and vegetables should be the basis of our diets in order to prevent disease as well. I eat a mostly vegan, gluten-free, packaged/processed food-free diet but sometimes enjoy organic eggs and raw seafood. I love, love, LOVE raw foods and green smoothies!
I am taking 2 years off before I begin my Masters/PhD degree to travel, volunteer, intern in research labs, learn Spanish, and possibly put together a conference and nutrition documentary.
It is incredible what one can accomplish when they do not allow fear to hold them back.
If you believe you can, anything is possible.
The more experiences one has, the more developed they become.
Be true to yourself!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to make contacts with people before I travel to a city. I also have been known to clean the house where I'm staying to feel like I'm contributing and not completely a burden (I might have a guilt complex...haha)
I cannot even express in words what the couchsurfing community has done for me. CS has given me the most incredible group of active friends in Hawaii, set me on my path of true healthfulness, brought me to my health guru and then my raw foods guru, giving me memories I will never forget... The people I have met on this site have literally changed my life in the best way imaginable. I don't know who I would be or what shape I would be had I never found it.
Traveling!! Rock climbing, dancing, raw foods, healthful lifestyles, humor and laughter, slacklining, hiking, camping, adventure, surfing, nature, playing the guitar, and meeting wonderful new people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Flying through a world of enormous white, pink, and blue clouds and knowing that they belonged to the home of Greek Gods and Goddesses, while on the decent to Crete, Greece. Rock Climbing in Arches & Moab, Utah and Yosemite. Watching a thunderstorm on the ocean at night, hundreds of miles away off the coast of Kenting, Taiwan while swimming in the warm ocean waters with my best friend. Walking the streets in Naxos, Greece while savouring a perfect, fresh, cheap gyro. Taking a cooking class and eating the fresh home-made italian goodness we created with my family in Tuscany, Italy. Finding a hidden sulphur hot spring in a naturally-created rock bathtub, in an ocean cave in Milos, Greece. Taking a felucca ride to a fruit-farming village island on the Nile in Luxor, Egypt. Finding a hidden house, stream, and meadow, under a canopy of trees on Naxos, in Greece, with my favorite traveling companion. Feeling the effects of good, clean raw food. Experiencing good samaritanism. Finding the great love of my life (thanks to CS) and creating a whole new life together. To be continued...
