About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See every part of Europe I can given my limited budget. I also want to meet you!

ABOUT ME

I move around a lot, and love getting to know new places, food, cultures, etc. I'm totally fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English fluently. I have started to collect random phrases from all the people I met that speak a different language, and it's hilarious and fun.

PHILOSOPHY

It's almost impossible to not like a person when you get to know them one on one. People can be vicious and cruel when part of a mob, but on an individual basis people are invariably kind and helpful. If you consider that each person is an individual with unique dreams, needs, and fears, it is much easier to understand points of view that are different than your own. It also makes it much easier to get along with people even if they are very different from yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've started to get involved at the local level going to meet ups, and I've met some fun, interesting people. I hope to do the same this fall when I travel to europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have now couchsurfed several places and I must say everyone has been great. It can be a little bit difficult to break the ice with a single message, but once I have met people things have gone great. I look forward to a long life of couchsurfing and more great memories.

Not related to couchsurfing.org, I stayed in Sweden with a great couple for two weeks, one of my favorite experiences. I look forward to doing this in other countries this fall. I've also stayed on various couches and floors throughout Texas on tour with my friends band.

Interests

I like bowling, pool, dominoes, swimming (floating in a pool), BBQ's, drinking buddies.

Food: I have champagne tastes with beer money, but I'm not a food snob. I love sushi, seafood, crawfish, steaks, bbq, salumi, charcuterie, fried chicken, and also fresh fruits and vegetables.

Drink: Whisky, whiskey, wine, cheap beer, fancy beer. Tea and the occasional cup of good coffee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a child I was able to go alligator hunting on the Amazon. We went out on a little boat with outboard motor and used a flashlight to find the reflective eyes of the gators. Once they were found, the guide used some rope around the snout and wrestled them onto the boat. They let me capture a small gator myself. We didn't keep them, they were returned to the water, but the experience has stayed with me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very interested in cured and preserved food, i.e. charcuterie and salumi. I would love to meet people that can teach me more about this craft.
