About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to learn more and expand my world.

ABOUT ME

I'm a easy going, thoughtful, and fun guy who can have a great time with just about anybody. My friends say I'm loyal, dependable and adventurous. I love good conversation and learning new things. I believe in doing things that matter, talking about issues with meaning, and thinking about the world with an open mind.

PHILOSOPHY

Be good, have fun, learn something from everything, and enjoy the moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to this and hope to use Couchsurfing more In retirement. Right now I'm just hosting, but soon I'll be traveling the world and hope to surf myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've hosted eight surfers, and they have all been awesome. I'm so excited to embark on my own Couchsurfing adventure.

Interests

I love being outside. Whether its on the water in my outrigger canoe, or hiking a trail, I'm a huge fan of being outdoors. I also run a lot, scuba, lounge on the beach, and relax in my yard. I volunteer as a Big Brother a few times a month too.

Music, Movies, and Books

More of a fan of documentaries than action or comedies. Prefer nonfiction to fiction, and enjoy most kinds of music--except new country and vulgar rap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being at Machu Picchu was truly magical and walking across the lava fields on the Big Island was an exhilarating combination of fear, excitement, wonder, and beauty.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching is a passion of mine. I find a huge thrill in passing on information, experiences, and whatever knowledge I've managed to gain. I will never stop perusing education, new challenges, or wisdom. I think Couchsurfing is an excellent medium for the exchange of both teaching and learning.

Countries I’ve Visited

Afghanistan, Belize, Canada, Colombia, Guatemala, Iraq, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

Japan, United States
