About Me

I like photography, art, cooking, wine, animals, books, Shakespeare, music, swimming, singing, and exploring. I moved to Cork in July 2021, and before that I lived in Hungary (Budapest), Germany (Stuttgart), and Wales (Swansea, Cardiff) where I finished my degree in film. I work in and around Cork as an archaeologist.

I live with my husband, who has his own couchsurfing profile here:

We also have three pet rats, Dougal, Beamish, and Dog. They live in a cage in the main room.

We are a very social house, we are just a 10 minute walk from the city centre and our place is often the beginning and end point of a night out. If you like to stay up until the wee hours sipping homemade wine, swapping stories, and playing card games around good company, this is the house for you. We also both love to cook and have a large kitchen, so you can feel free to make your own food whenever you want, or join us for meals. We are 420 friendly. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to see the underside of places when I travel, the dive bars and random parks where tourists don't normally go. Seeing a new place with a local leads to such a richer experience, and I like meeting new people along the way.

Interests

I love photogrpahy, both digital and analogue. It's my dream to set up my own darkroom one day in my house!

I like to cook, I love a good dry red wine, and I'm always interested in going to concerts, events, festivals, gallery openings, parades, or anything else happening in town. I have a lot of energy so I don't like to sit around for long. The exception to that rule is knitting!

Some other hobbies of mine include music, art, knitting, cycling, swimming, hiking, reading, and singing. I sing in a local choir and I'm also taking harp lessons. Alan and I also make our own wine--red, white, and experiments. Some of my favourites I've made so far have been Ginger Wine, Carrot Wine, and Dandelion Wine. I'm in the process right now of making Gorse Wine. If you stay with us, you'll invariably be offered a glass (or two or three).

Music, Movies, and Books

Top six favourite books (because I couldn't narrow it to five): Jane Eyre, War and Peace, The Pillars of the Earth, Catch 22, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest.

I have a book bucket list, and I'm always taking suggestions so feel free to make a recommendation. The only genres I don't like are mystery and detective.

Music: Josh Ritter and Will and the People are my top favourites of all time, but I like anything rock'n'roll, alternative, or folk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 22 I sold/donated everything I owned, moved to Wales on a one-way ticket, and have lived in Europe ever since.
