ABOUT ME

Laid-back, outgoing, low-maintenance, certainly not the most gifted musician you ever met but probably not the worst. I know a thing or two about the stars and planets, and the colorful beings you encounter in tropical waters. I spend more time doing sports than watching football in the pub. Except during the euro- or world cup of course.

PHILOSOPHY

Never stop exploring. Take the right rather than the easy path - and enjoy your good fortune if those happen to be the same. Create and seize opportunities.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having lived in Heidelberg for over eight years now I am very much at home here and have pretty much become a "local" myself. I'd be happy to show you around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I learned about the CS initiative recently during a conference in Tuebingen, where I spent two evenings with my friend and colleague Andres and his couch-surfing friend Janina. They told me about couch-surfing, and I think the idea is just great. CS offers the opportunity to get to know people wherever you go, and visit places as a "guest" rather than a "tourist". Thus you can see and get to know them from the "inside" which makes a world of difference.

Good stuff! G. conversations, g. food, g. music, g. scuba-diving, g. mountain hikes, g. wine, g. books, g. road trips on a g. motor-bike in g. weather, g. friends!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: "The Shawshank redemption", "Forrest Gump", "The lord of the rings", "Mulholland Drive", "Snatch".

Music: just about anything. Symphonies, chamber music, pop, rock, Hip hop, "latin" music, blues, some jazz at times. R&B usually doesn't light my candle. Anything played live is sure to catch my immediate attention. Being a kid of the 90s I have a special sympathy for Rock music like, but surely not limited to, the stuff from that fine decade (artists like Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette, Live, REM, etc. etc. The guys of U2 are in a league of their own.)

Books: "The indispensable Calvin & Hobbes" (Watterson), "The lord of the rings" (Tolkien)", "A spot of bother" (Haddon).

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages: dutch, english, german, some french. Dutch and German culture. Countries I have visited. Natural sciences, in particular physics and astronomy. Playing the guitar and singing to that (poorly).
