I'm Griffin, a student currently at Swansea University in Wales studying political science. I grew up and live in Maryland in the United States where I go to school at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, but am currently spending a semester abroad in Swansea. I like watching movies, reading, drawing, and exploring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During the Spring term here at Swansea, we get a 3-week long Easter break. My girlfriend and I decided to spend some of that time travelling throughout Europe, hitting France, Germany, Italy, and Spain before heading back to Wales. We're using Couchsurfing since we're on student budgets and hotels (and hostels) can get pretty expensive after a few nights. We also want to immerse ourselves in the local cultures, and there's no better way than by actually staying with the people who know it the best. We've heard good things about experiences and people on the site, so we decided to check it out!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Hip-hop old and new is my forte, but I grew up on punk rock and hardcore, and they'll always have a place in my heart. Currently I'm big into Jay-Z.

Movies: I love action and thrillers. The Raid, The Man From Nowhere, Die Hard, Chinatown, and Snatch are some of my favorites.

Books: Everything Tim Dorsey and Dennis Lehane have written.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled to Nassau, Bahamas after I graduated from high school to do volunteer work in an impoverished neighborhood not far from where the Atlantis Resort is located. I was able to see the other side of resort towns and create a bond with the residents and understand lives far different from my own.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about all aspects of other cultures, whether it be food, politics, music, or anything else we could talk about. I'm always up for a conversation over food or a beer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always willing to talk music, movies, politics...anything. I love conversations, so I won't be silent and stone-faced if I'm visiting.
