About Me

A Lithuanian citizen of Armenian origin, who has also lived in Russia and UK. So even without travelling much, I had a change to slightly get to know different cultures, although I couldn't tell a lot about any of them.
I think I would describe myself as polite, respectful, friendly, helpful, sensitive and empathetic. Sometimes I might look line an introvert, unable to come up what to talk about, but sometimes it could seem like the opposite. I haven't figured this out for myself yet. Subjects that sound interesting to me are literature, movies, philosophy, psychology, economics, politics, but probably I don't even have beginner-level knowledge about them, more like curiosity. And I guess I'm also modest. Or trying to be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I can't remember who and when told me about the Couchsurfing and what I've used it for the first time for, but I've been mostly using it for local interactions. Especially this was helpful for me in new places I went to live, because for me it was a way to meet new people, and it served me real good and led to new friendships.
Now I must admit, that I'm not big on travelling, especially for hiking or sightseeing. I would much rather prefer spending a few weeks or months in a place and learn about the culture from the people.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music playlist looks very random, with genres from classical music to indie and pop. Impossible to describe what makes a song likeable to me. And normally I don't concentrate on the lyrics.

As for movies, my all time favorite from my childhood is "The Lord of The Rings". I used to watch popular movies, like Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Matrix, Marvel movies and so on, but now I pick movies which are rated the best by critics, most of which are from the previous century, like "Seven samurai", "Citizen Kane", "A Space Odyssey" and so on.

I've started reading quite late in my life and am very far behind, but I try to read when I have free time and generally enjoy classics. Examples are: "The color purple", "1984", "Idiot", "The hunger games" and "The little prince". Currently reading Lithuanian literature. The favorite non-fiction would probably be "Thinking, Fast and Slow".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

4 days group cycling from Portuguese town to Santiago de Compostela (280km) with all the beautiful views.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could tell my view on the cultures I've lived in, tell about the languages I know, teach basic things about programming or exercises.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will do my best to tell as much new as I can come up with, while also gladly listening to what is new to me.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Lithuania, Russian Federation, United Kingdom
