CURRENT MISSION

I'm developing a new life and some projects in Asheville that include teaching English Country Dancing and courses on the Western Mind and new paradigm studies.

ABOUT ME

I'm quiet and reflective, seek to be generous and kind. Have an interest in spiritual practice--meditation and psychology--and in alternative health, astrology, non-ordinary states, history, and many different subjects. I love traditional dancing. I love travel--recently spent 5 years teaching in China and did extensive travel in Asia.

PHILOSOPHY

Kindness above all. I seek self-knowledge. I think what we are consciously aware of is only a small part of what moves through us. “We are lived by powers we pretend to understand"--W. H. Auden.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm fairly new to Couchsurfer and haven't been able to offer housing yet. Soon I will own a house in Asheville and can then do so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've just begun and I want to increase it, including both as a surfer and a host (when I have completed my move to Asheville).

Interests

I love to dance (and teach English Country Dancing). I'm a spiritual seeker, interested in many ways to deepen my life experience. I love to share ideas. Zen meditation, yoga, books, good films (usually non-Hollywood), shamanism--I can get excited about all this!

Music, Movies, and Books

Loved "The Namesake" and too many other films to mention--I'm especially interested in the work of the great film directors. I love books--many subjects--an important part of my life is reading and deepening my understanding of life itself. Recently I've been most inspired by writing of Robert Bellah, Richard Tarnas, and Carl Jung.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went to China 5 years ago--loved my work as a teacher and the many friends--got to travel widely around Asia. Very exciting and life enhancing.

I just completed five years of teaching at a university in China. A rich and wonderful experience. Now in a time of transition and seeking to make that as interesting as possible.
