ABOUT ME
I'm a warm, trusting person, curious about a lot of things. Just trying to make a positive difference and enjoy myself at the same time. I've had the privilege to travel lots - both for fun and work and the best thing about that are the friendships I've made along the way.
I'm a first generation Londoner, I was born and bred there and since I left I've gained a new appreciation for what a great city it is. In 2005 I moved to Colombia to work with refugees. I lived there for nearly five years, then Venezuela then Pakistan. I'm now based back in London but never lost the attachment to Latin America - I'm researching forest conservation so am back and forth quite a lot.
PHILOSOPHY
Everything in moderation, including moderation. Treat others as you would have them treat you. Try to leave the world a better place than what it would have been without you. Pack it in! Life's short.
I'm a bit of searcher; curious, rationalist, atheist, humanist, leftist!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've had the most ridiculously nomadic few years. For the time being its great to meet to people on my travels. I can't wait to have a couch of my own to return the love.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I grew up cycle-touring with my dad with Servas - a kind of pre-internet couch surfing. I signed up for CS as soon as I heard about it but have been a bit slow getting going. My dear friend Beatrice from Cali helped me out a couple of times putting me in touch with people through CS and its been amazing. Its about time I did it properly!
Interests
I'm moving around a lot at the moment. So when I'm Latin America I make the most of my time - I get my work done but have some fun too and speak to as many people as I can. People make the world go round!
When I'm back in London I try to get the theatre or a concert or the opera or whatever as often as I can. Seeing friends and family as much as I can - I missed them when I lived abroad so its great to have them around. I Love food, the spicier the better. Love swimming - particularly outdoors. I've been getting stuck in to series to the detriment of novels lately - but I always read at least one newspaper a day - I'm a bit of a news junky!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
a 10-day boat trip in the rainforest in the South of Colombia staying with indigenous communities along the way. The view down from an aeroplane on the never-ending broccoli of the Amazon. Yaje.
